After all, you could book your own holiday, or plan your own event or occasion……right?
Recently, my husband and I took the plunge and had some refurbishment and decorating done in our Cornish home by some amazing local trades.
We did ponder the idea of doing it ourselves; getting some wall paneling kits off the shelf, figuring out how to stick them to the walls, rehanging doors and then doing all the painting. After all, how hard can it be? And anyone can pick up a paint roller, a paintbrush and inject some colour onto the walls in a day or two, right?
Stage 1
We eventually put a budget together (when we found the time) and discussed when we might be able to find the time to do the refurbishment and decorating – amongst other work demands.
Stage 2
We started to watch 100’s of ‘how to’ You Tube videos, not to mention buying countless samples of wall panels (and countless paint tester pots – but that’s another story!)
Stage 3
Months later, when we realised that we were no further on and still feeling very concerned that, in reality, we didn’t know what on earth we were doing, we decided to call in the professionals!
It’s probably no surprise that having brought in the professionals, we got a job very well done. They were thorough, precise, respectful of our requirements and used their years of experience to ensure a great result. We are so pleased – most definitely worth letting the pro’s do the job and well worth paying for it.
This led me to think about how in life, when we all want to have the best experience and outcome, most people often turn to the professionals. Yes, there may be additional costs, but the return usually far outweighs trying to do something yourself when your time and knowledge is limited.
